Fiend Intel 1: Wizards of the Waste – Sahagin Warrior

  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Don’t Get Petrified.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

On the west side of Cosmo Canyon, east of the airfield, there’s a hill that leads up to an area with a lot of cliffs. You’ll find the Sahagani Warriors hanging out up there on a ledge.

These guys are relatively straightforward. They’re pressured by ice, and if your timing is particularly good, you can get more than one of them in a single attack. The issue here is the intel objective of not getting petrified. In general, as long as you keep them at a distance, you can avoid their attempts to petrify. They also have a long windup before their attack, so if you’re paying attention, you can get out of their way before they can hit you with it.

Fiend Intel 2: Fury Takes Flight – Drohdroh

  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Unleash a limit attack.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

The Drohdroh are located just south of the Chocobo ranch, on a ledge on the lefthand side of the path down into the canyon.

This is the type of enemy where you need to evade their Fury Bomber attack in order to pressure them. They have no elemental weakness. Preferably, you’ll want to take control of someone who’s very quick and nimble and make constant use of their dodge. Don’t merely wait for them to attempt a Fury Bomber to attack, just make sure to dodge when they do it. Otherwise, you won’t make the time limit.

It can be somewhat difficult to charge your limit meter and defeat the enemies in the time limit in a single attempt. However, if you complete one, you can retry the fight and focus on the other. So, if you manage to use your Limit Break on the first fight but didn’t make it in time, you can retry and merely focus on taking them down quickly.

Fiend Intel 3: Guardian of Gold – Shirdal

  • Exploit an enemy’s weakness.
  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Defeat the enemy within the time limit.

The Shirdal is located on the southeast part of the canyon, but you’ll need to catch an updraft on your Chocobo to get high onto the cliffs. There’s a landing spot hanging from the ledge you’ll need to get onto, as well as a large vent that can get you on top of it.

I really hate this thing. It kind of becomes pressured on its own, which is probably why that isn’t an intel goal. Instead, you need to hit them with their elemental weakness, which in this case, is lightning. Hitting them when they’re pressured requires a close watch and good timing. It’s not a bad idea to use Barret’s Bonus Round ability, which makes his normal account add to the stagger gauge quicker.

Fiend Intel 4: Too Hot to Handle – Pyrowire

  • Pressure an enemy.
  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

The Pyrowire is in a rocky area on the southeast end of the canyon. They’re at the bottom of the canyon, so you won’t need to jump up to get them.

These fiends aren’t terribly strong. They’re also easy to pressure, as you only need to hit them with their elemental weakness, ice. I made use of Cloud’s triple slash to take them down as quickly as possible.

Fiend Intel 5: The Shapeless Assassin – Bashfulisk

  • Pressure an enemy.
  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

In the (very) northern area of the canyon, southeast of the intel tower, you’ll find a group of Bashfulisk.

These little weirdos get pressured by their elemental weakness, but the catch in this fight is that they keep changing what that is. They start off weak against ice, but will swap out whenever they go into hiding.

A simple way to tell what they’re weak against at any given moment is to use assess at the beginning of the battle. Then, whenever you notice that they’re a different color, you can press the touchpad to bring up their intel again, which will list their new weakness.

Fiend Intel 6: Forgotten Toys – Elder Golem

  • Pressure an enemy.
  • Stagger an enemy.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

In the middle of Cosmo Canyon, there’s a big precipice that has ruins on top of it. If you’re exploring the area, you’ll no doubt get to the ruins at some point since the fiend encounter isn’t the only intel up there. You will have to use updrafts to get on the mesa south of the ruins, then glide over to them from there.

The Elder Golem can be a confusing fiend. They deplete their energy when they attack or take damage, and eventually they’ll become pressured and need to take a break. Even though cracks on their body glow with energy, it can still be difficult to tell when they’re close to exhaustion. With that in mind, it’s generally just best to keep attacking them until eventually they become pressured. They’re weak against air, so that can help you do damage faster.
