Where to find crystals and metal in The Sims 4

Crystals and metals can be found in multiple ways, expanding from the new features of Sims 4 Crystal Creations. Here’s what you can do:

  • Mine dig sites
  • Buy items from computers
  • Ask a scientist from the Get to Work pack
  • Harvest them from the crystal tree

Just like you can in Minecraft, Simmers can discover gems across multiple locations, including Oasis Springs and Willow Creek parks. I found a dig site on the side of Desert Bloom, so it may be best to look around the surrounding area. However, it can be pretty tricky to spot due to its small shape.

When you select the gems, an option to ‘dig’ will be presented to you, and it will randomly output a crystal or metal. Advanced levels in gemology also reward the Sim with more resources when digging.

To simplify things, any computer features a shop to order crystals from, including the new jade and moonstone. Of course, this route comes at a cost, so feel free to use any cheats to get some Simoleons. Scientists from the Get to Work expansion pack provide these minerals, too. However, those who don’t have the pack won’t have the option to do so.

Once you’ve reached gemology skill level 3 in Sims 4, you’ll unlock the crystal tree, using a seed to grow on a plot. The tree outputs daily resources, all from the comfort of your home. Oh, and it’s completely free, which is always a nice touch.
