If you’re like me, you perform a lot of rituals in Cult of the Lamb. I generally like to keep resurrecting my closest followers and ascending old people out of my life. So, how do I earn the bones to do that?
The most obvious way to earn bones is just by going on crusades. Enemies drop skeletons, skeletons drop bones, and you can pick them up. Silk Cradle is especially good for piling up the bones. For the most part, you can subsist on your adventure loot.
You may also want to consider the cheaper rituals Divine Inspiration upgrade. It’s a tier 3 unlock, and will reduce the bone cost of rituals by half.
However, if you really want to bring home the bones, the best way to do it is with missionaries. A Missionary is unlockable with divine inspiration. It’s a tier 2 unlock, but you’re going to need to upgrade it to at least Missionary II. Once you do, you can send followers out to gather resources. After you upgrade to Missionary II, one of these resources is bones.
Note that by sending out your follower, there’s a chance that they won’t come back alive. That’s just a risk you’ll need to be willing to take. They will also be gone for a few days. However, the odds of their success as well as how many days they’ll take is dependent on their level. A high level follower can do resource runs in a day and comes back with 40-70 bones. However, even at the maximum of three days, you can just go out on a crusade, and they’ll probably be waiting for you when you come back.
The Missionary III upgrade allows you to send three followers out at one time. If you keep a few high-level characters doing runs for you, you will find yourself with more bones than you know what to do with. Then you can just keep ascending and resurrecting your favorite followers or doing whatever other despicable rituals you want to perform.
