Not all Pals are created equal in Palworld. And sometimes, you capture a Pal that’s close to perfect, if only it had better skills. Well, don’t fret. You can find rare items called Skill Fruit in Palworld, letting you easily change Pal skills.
Skill Fruit are consumable fruits you can find hanging from Skill Fruit trees that dot the landscape in Palworld. They aren’t easy to find but are necessary if you want to swap out Pal skills. At least the trees have a unique look. You can spot them as trees with large, tentacle-like branches with no leaves. They also are speckled with a blue glow, not unlike Paldium deposits. All the trees I ran across had three, odd-shaped fruits hanging from the branches.
How to get Skill Fruit in Palworld
Unsurprisingly, you get the fruit by walking up to the tree and plucking them off the branches. Get close enough to one of the fruits and press the corresponding button or key to pick it. Fruits reflect the color of the skill they provide. Orange fruits give fire-based skills, blue fruits grant water-based skills, etc. The fruits seem to be random and will respawn over time.
Here are the trees closest to the starting point of the game:
How to change your Pal’s skills
To change Pal skills using the Skill Fruits in Palworld, you need to use them in your inventory. Here’s what to do next:
- Put the Pal whose skill you want to change into your party.
- Open up your inventory and highlight the fruit you want to use.
- Press the necessary button on a controller, or right-click on the mouse, to ‘Use’ the fruit
A new menu will pop up asking you to pick a Pal to give the new skill:
Once you choose, go to your Palbox and press the F Key or corresponding button to open up the menu of the Pal with the new skill. Click on the skill you want to swap out and then pick the new skill:
There doesn’t seem to be any limitation on what skill you can give a Pal. I was able to give a grass-based skill to a Pal I had with an electric element. For the most part, you can have whatever skill you feel is needed. Frankly, using Skill Fruits seems like a good way to have a more well-rounded team. Be sure to check out our Elements chart guide to know the strengths and weakness of each element in the game.
