OnLive won’t be at E3 (not swine flu related)

Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009 is sure to have plenty of shock, awe, and babes. One thing it will lack, however, is a bit of head scratching. Warner Bros.’ OnLive service — a cloud-computed videogame delivery service — will not be shown at E3 this year.

And, no, it’s not because of swine flu. Or nerd stink. According to OnLive executive Mike McGarvey, the reason is that E3 doesn’t work for what OnLive is.

“More than anything, E3 is a retail-oriented conference, both for retail platforms and retail publishers, and OnLive is neither,” McGarvey wrote on the OnLive blog.

Bummer. I was looking forward to giving some blank stares and nodding my head for show while being told how the technology behind OnLive works.
