World of Warcraft‘s Season of Discovery was one of many surprises announced during BlizzCon 2023. Phase 1 allowed players to explore Classic Azeroth in search of runes that could drastically alter their class’ gameplay. With many players having already hit the initial level cap of 25 and conquering the reworked Blackfathom Deeps raid/dungeon hybrid, we’re left wondering when Phase 2 will be released.
When is WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2 coming out?
In a This Week in WoW post, Blizzard confirmed that Phase 2 of Season of Discovery would go live on February 8, 2024. This is relatively quick on the heels of Phase 1’s release on November 30, 2023.
With the launch of Phase 2, the level cap will increase from 25 to 40, “reward additional Talent Points to 31,” rework Gnomeregan as a raid, new runes and abilities will be in the wild, and “more.” It’s a good chunk of content that will have players exploring even more of Azeroth and will reward them with the first stage of riding when they hit level 40. Finally, our speed will no longer be bound by our puny legs!
Season of Discovery has made quite the impression with the Classic community as it adds a fun twist to the Vanilla experience. Logging in at the time of this writing will show players gathered in main cities like Thunder Bluff in preparation, all giddy with excitement. Personally, I hope that Blizzard leans hard into runes and gives us some absolutely bonkers abilities.
