How to fix Error 030d-0000 (Failed to connect. An error has occurred.) in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising

Hello, IT. Have you tried turning it off and back on?

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising launched with no shortage of bugs and errors. These range from misnomers to resolution settings for your wood-grain living room television. As if that weren’t enough, Error 030d-0000 has joined the party and is preventing people from playing this animated brawler online.

Error 030d-0000 randomly strikes when players are trying to connect to an online match. These can be the Casual, Ranked, or cabinet matches in the various hubs. When the error strikes, GBVSR will become largely unresponsive for roughly 30 seconds before the error message appears.

In my experience with this particular error, reattempting a match or even backing out to the main menu did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. The only reliable fix for me was to completely close the game and relaunch it. This is pretty straightforward for PC players, but those on PlayStation will need to make sure they close GBVSR after going to the PlayStation home screen.

From there, I was able to reconnect and get back into matches. As I said, the error appears randomly. I won’t have a single issue some nights and others are error after error. Neither Cygames nor Arc System Works have officially acknowledged the bug at this time.

It’s frustrating when an anticipated game launches with so many bugs. It feels like a lot of emphasis was put on the visuals and performance while in matches whereas quality-of-life features and more stringent QA were neglected. Here’s hoping the various community posts across social media gain some traction and we can get these issues knocked out.
