Almost fully constructed.

Hooded Horse has announced that 3Division’s resource management city builder Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic will be fully constructed and out of Early Access in 2024. They’ve also released a new trailer and outlined the next update.

Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has been in Early Access since 2019, and in that time, it has built quite a reputation. It’s said to be an incredibly deep and intricate city builder, and I’ve heard it once described as the premier title when it comes to economic simulation.

Alongside the release date announcement and the new trailer, 3Division has also dropped details about the update coming toward the end of January. The main feature of this update will be the first two parts of the campaign. Before you get too excited, this is essentially a tutorial for the game. Before you get too disappointed, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic is a game that badly needs a tutorial. The main “custom game” basically just drops you in the middle of a field and leaves you to fend for yourself. The choice paralysis is overwhelming. No word on whether or not the campaign is going to completely replace the current tutorial.

Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has you build a Soviet-era nation centered around industry. Your nation is not technically part of the Soviet Bloc, however, and you’re free to trade with either side of the Iron Curtain. However, this also means that you’re responsible for all transportation and services and must keep your workers happy to prevent them from defecting.

A big feature of the game is its customization. You can set the level of detail and complexity of the simulation by enabling or disabling features. Or you can just choose the difficulty. There’s no need to get caught up in choice paralysis before even starting the game.

Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic is targeting full release on PC in 2024. It’s currently available in Early Access. The first two parts of the campaign will launch toward the end of January, with the third act coming later in the year.
