Anybody remember when Bethesda said we could expect a PS5 and Xbox Series upgrade of Fallout 4 sometime in the future? It’s understandable if you’ve forgotten. It was kind of brushed to the side, but now the studio has a (sort of) update.
In a recent post on the official Twitter account, Bethesda has thanked fans for their patience in waiting for the Fallout 4 next-gen update. However, the developer says it needs “a bit more time” so don’t expect it any day now.
The post then ends by referring to it as an “exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024,” which suggests it’s coming next year. However, that still doesn’t give a lot of details. That’s potentially another twelve months we have to wait.
Frozen in time
With all the buzz around Starfield and the hope of hearing anything – literally anything – about the next Elder Scrolls game, word about the upgrade all but disappeared. How long’s it been since Bethesda said it was on its way? Over a year?
While Fallout 4 is not everyone’s favorite entry in the series, it would be nice to play a spit shined version of it on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. The game came out in 2015 and while it doesn’t have the staying power of Skyrim, it offered up a decent amount of content. And call me a fool if you must, but I quite liked the base-building aspects.
With the vague message about when the upgrade will actually be happening, some fans may be at least a bit placated to know it’s still going ahead.
