After installing and running The Day Before for the first time, you’re presented with a choice before the game even starts. You will need to choose one of two Data consent options for what sort of Data you would like to share with the developers. So should you choose Full Data or Limited Data in The Day Before when choosing how much data to share?
What does Full Data entail?
Opting to send Full Data to the developers will allow all Data about your gameplay in The Day Before will be sent, as well as information about your computer, hardware, location etc. In theory, this is handy because developers can use the information to optimize their game based on certain hardware and software configurations and drivers not performing properly with their game.
However, once you agree to send over this information, how can you ever really know the full extent of the Data being collected and used?
Developer FNTASTIC has developed a couple of popular titles before The Day Before including Propnight and The Wild Eight. But, even still, I’m always hesitant to feel comfortable sharing Full Data in this situation.
What does Limited Data mean?
In my experience, this is the option you should choose: Only submit Limited Data. This essentially means your game-only data will be sent to the developer. This can include where you were in the game, what you were doing, and how you were interacting with your surroundings. This is especially useful if you experience a crash or some other sort of bug or issue.
By sending Limited Data, you are at least giving the developers the information they need to properly troubleshoot any sort of problems and resolve them.
It can be confusing right at the start having to decide should you choose Full Data or Limited Data in The Day Before? After all, the decision has to be made before you can even play. It’s always best to err on the side of caution in these situations, so I recommend Limited Data only.
