Eastward: Octopia

Eastward DLC expansion Octopia starts simple farming life on January 31, 2024

Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches.

If you’ve had enough of the rough and tumble adventure of Eastward, it’s time to take a step back with the upcoming Octopia DLC. This one trades in a collapsing society for one full of fruitful farming fun, and developer Pixpil and publisher Chucklefish have it lined up for a January 31, 2024 launch.

To shake the tribulation of Eastward, Pixpil set Octopia in a parallel world that is, to say the least, a lot more chill. This time around Sam and John get to bask in that sweet farming life in the countryside as they build up an old farmstead, grow crops, cook with neighbors, and attract more eager new folks to the town of Octopia.

You can settle in yourself with the release date trailer:

The meticulous pixel art for which Eastward is known is one bond that this world and the other have in common. While Octopia is being released as DLC for Eastward, you don’t have to complete the game to gain access. As long as you have a copy of Eastward you’ll be able to venture to Octopia right from the main menu. Sam and John’s peaceful new life will be available on Nintendo Switch and Steam for $5.99.

Eastward first launched in September 2021, delivering a journey adorned with gorgeous art and a soundtrack we won’t soon forget. There’s plenty of competition out there for farming sim games with nostalgic vibes, so we’ll see how this one fits in early next year.
