There are many Survivors in Risk of Rain Returns, but it seems not everyone who made it to the planet managed to live for long. The Bloated Survivor is one such sad individual, but you can at least earn something once you find their remains in Risk of Rain Returns.

You can find the Bloated Survivor in the Hive Cluster, the possible fourth stage in Risk of Rain Returns. In my experience, the Hive Cluster doesn’t show as often as the other map that can appear as the fourth stage: Magma Barracks. But you’ll know you made it based on the weird, pink slime and overall nasty funk of the place. The Hive Cluster can also contain the Artifact of Command, which is definitely worth unlocking.

To locate the Bloated Survivor, explore the right side (around the halfway point and below) of the Hive Cluster until you stumble on a corpse near a wall. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you walk over the body and you get an activation prompt that reads ‘Inspect..’. Clear out any nearby enemies before activating it, as I got attacked by two Archer Bugs when I did. Thankfully, they’re not so tough as they are annoying.

The Bloated Survivor has a bad case of athlete’s foot, and you’re going to take it as a trophy. Don’t ask why. This is how we do it in Risk of Rain. Finding the Survivor unlocks the ‘Dead Man’s Foot’ item, the ‘Last Wish’ achievement, and completes the ‘Find the bloated survivor’ challenge.

The Dead Man’s Foot is a green-rarity item that drops a poison mine when you take damage. It deals 150% damage and poisons for x600% (+450% per stack) over time. I believe it’s a good item for those in-your-face Survivors like Acrid or the Enforcer.
