What is Error Code 0 in Fortnite

Error Code 0 in Fortnite is primarily related to its Anti-Cheat measures. However, innocent players may encounter this error message for seemingly no reason. It’s unfortunately impossible to pin down one exact reason why this error code appears in these cases. However, you should be able to solve it by trying out the troubleshooting steps below.

Run as an Administrator

To run the game as an administrator on your PC, follow these steps:

  • Exit the game completely.
  • Right-click on the game shortcut.
  • Select “Run as administrator.”

Verify Game Files

If you’re playing Fortnite on a PC, some game files may have become corrupt, which can trigger Error Code 0. To verify the integrity of your game files, follow these steps:

  • Launch the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Locate Fortnite and click on the three dots next to the game.
  • Select “Manage” from the drop-down menu.
  • Within the Manage menu, click on “Verify.”
  • Allow the verification process to run, and if any corrupted files are detected, the launcher will repair or replace them.
  • After the verification process is completed, relaunch the game and check if the error persists.

Uninstall, repair, and reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat

If previous attempts were unsuccessful, you can try uninstalling, repairing, and reinstalling Easy Anti-Cheat. The Easy Anti-Cheat service is usually installed automatically with each game and uninstalled automatically when the last game using Easy Anti-Cheat is removed from your system.

However, you can also install the service manually. According to the Easy Anti-Cheat support website, navigate to the “EasyAntiCheat” folder within the game’s installation folder and locate “EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe”. Run it as an administrator and select ‘Install’.

If your Easy Anti-Cheat installation becomes corrupted, you can repair or uninstall it by following the same steps and selecting ‘Repair’ or ‘Uninstall’ at the end.

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite

As a last resort, if none of the previous steps resolved the error, you may need to completely uninstall and reinstall Fortnite. Although this can be a time-consuming process, it can eliminate any lingering corrupt files that may be causing Error Code 0. Ensure that you have a backup of your game progress before proceeding with the reinstallation.
