Lusca is a secret optional boss in Dave the Diver that was added in the October update to the game. It will take a while to unlock him, and you’ll need to beat the main story first. Once you’ve reached the post-game, though, here’s how to find and defeat Lusca in Dave the Diver!
Collect all the Marinca cards
Lusca appears once you’ve collected every single Marinca card. This includes the card for Yawie, who you need to defeat as part of the final story mission in Dave the Diver. There’s also a good chance you’re missing the ruby seadragon, which can be a pain to find.
Once you have all of the cards, though, Sato will call you and reward you with a Marinca Completion Trophy. May this great accomplishment be celebrated by all.
After sharing an emotional high-five, Sato informs you that there is, in fact, one final card to collect: that of the legendary creature Lusca.
Find Lusca’s lair
Sato informs you that Lusca will appear on the next stormy night. Wait for the appropriate weather, go for an evening dive, and look for an underwater vortex. Unlike other optional bosses, Lusca’s lair is slightly deeper in the Medium Depth area. Mine was about 90m down. Listen for the sound of rushing water and avoid the predatory creatures that patrol the area.
Defeat Lusca
Every animal in Dave the Diver is based on a real-life creature — except for Lusca. Lusca is the front half of a shark attached to an octopus’ arms.
Its primary attacks at close range involve jabbing an arm at you and firing projectiles from the ends. It can also turn around and send whirlpools towards you with a flick of its arms. After it does its whirlpool attack, Lusca will turn around and spread its arms to expose a, uh, sphincter-like structure on its underside. Shoot this weak spot on its underside to deal double damage.
At intervals, Lusca will swim over to one of the boats embedded in the wall of the arena. It will latch onto the boat for a brief moment before charging straight at you. In the process, it will dislodge the boat’s battery, which will dangle from the boat’s wreckage. Lure Lusca over to a boat and melee the battery to briefly stun the boss.
Midway through the fight, Lusca will swim to the uppermost boat on the right side of the arena and do multiple dashes in quick succession. This will activate all of the batteries for you, though, letting you stun Lusca at any of their locations.
As the fight progresses, ammo and oxygen tanks will rain down from the ceiling. Stay near the ground to pick them up when you get the chance.
Profit
Make sure to harvest Lusca’s body before heading to the surface. You’ll obtain one piece of neck meat and one piece of arm meat, which can be cooked into dishes. When you get to your boat, Sato will give you his hat as a new decoration for your restaurant. You’ll also unlock a new skin for your boat featuring Lusca’s fearsome likeness.
