Mastering the Web-Swing in Spider-Man 2

In Spider-Man 2, you can casually traverse through NYC just by holding the R2 button and your character will automatically web-sling onto nearby buildings and objects to advance through the city. But if you really want to web-sing like a pro in Spider-Man 2, there’s a bit of nuance to it. First, you want to hold down R2 and advance your web-swing up as high as you can. Right before you reach the penultimate point of your swing, let go of R2. You will get an additional boost as Spider-Man pushes forward with momentum, allowing you to go even higher. If you just hold down R2 the whole time, eventually Spider-Man will lose momentum and begin heading back down the opposite way, which you don’t want.

From here you want to quickly hold L3 (click in and hold the left analog stick) which will cause Spider-Man to dive down toward the ground quickly. This happens VERY quickly, so be ready to stop holding in L3 and switch back to holding R2 which will cause Spider-Man to instantly web-sling a nearby building and start swinging upwards again.

It’s all about momentum, which Insomniac Games has nailed perfectly. You can literally wait until the absolute last second to switch in both cases and see the natural momentum carry you gracefully into the next stage of your swing.

Now you know how to web-swing like a pro in Spider-Man 2, and are ready to traverse New York City in style!
