"Redemption, suffering, or damnation? YOU decide."

After a long hiatus, we’re about to experience an explosion of Silent Hill releases. From the official remake of the second game to brand-new entries, Konami’s iconic horror series is finally making a comeback. Along with these is Silent Hill: Ascension, which has just released its premiere trailer.

Billed as an interactive experience that viewers can influence the outcome of, Ascension‘s recent teaser gives a little taste of things to come. It also confirms – though we already knew at this point – that the “live series” will begin on October 31, starting at 9pm ET / 6pm PT. You can pre-install it by going to the official website.

It’s being developed by J.J. Abram’s Bad Robots Productions company in conjunction with Behaviour Interactive (yes, the people behind Dead by Daylight), Genvid Entertainment, and DJ2 Entertainment.

Make your choices

Each day, viewers will get to decide what happens to the characters in the Silent Hill experience. You’ll get to watch (play?) it while also making decisions in real time. The story will play out depending on audience choices.

The story is described thus:

The Hernandez family plummets into chaos as another death shakes their decimated rust-belt town in Pennsylvania. In a dying fishing village in Norway, the uneasy peace of the Johansen family is upended when their matriarch, Ingrid, dies under suspicious circumstances. Survival depends on them overcoming their darkest impulses and the machinations of a cult, as they discover the horror that connects them.

While it’s almost certainly going to be likened to such things as Bandersnatch, Ascension is at least a unique way of reigniting the Silent Hill flame. While many of you are eagerly awaiting Bloober Team’s remake of SH2, Bad Robots’ interactive offering is something a lot of horror fans will also be looking forward to.
