The Xbox lineup has many intriguing new IPs for its player base, while PlayStation sticks to its favorites. If development goes well, the 2024 Xbox exclusives lineup includes Avowed and possibly Fable.
There may also be some Activision games exclusive to the platform in the future, but there is no confirmation at the time of writing. Here’s the confirmed list of 2024 Xbox exclusives and beyond.
Note: I’ve only included games that have shown some element of gameplay or in-game footage in their trailers.
33 Immortals (2024)
This game sounds wild. 33 Immortals includes 33-player co-op action, and it will be a roguelike. You’ll be taking on all manner of beasts, and huge bosses, and then likely face off against the hellish God that stands in your way. I personally don’t have 32 other friends, but I’m still looking forward to checking this out.
Avowed (2024)
After the successful The Outer Worlds, Obsidian is releasing a first-person fantasy RPG called Avowed. As we explore this infested world, we’ll be using swords, spells, guns, and shields to eliminate the foes in front of us.
The Steam listing says we’ll “discover a personal connection to the land itself and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything.” Hopefully, this will tide us over until The Elder Scrolls VI.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl (Q1 2024)
STALKER 2 might be a sleeper hit in 2024. Exclusive to Xbox platforms for three months, you’ll be exploring a huge “seamless open world” with over 30 weapons and different factions along the way. You’ll also be taking down some horrific monsters along the way that have been mutated. There will be multiple endings as well based on your actions in the game.
Towerborne (2024)
Next, there’s Towerborne, a co-op action game by Stoic (The Banner Saga). It has stunning animation, a pretty landscape, and thrilling action in store for us. We’ll be able to play this game with three friends online. There’s also going to be a gear system, quests, and enhanced skills and abilities to utilize.
Clockwork Revolution (TBA)
Well-known RPG developer inXile Entertainment is creating a steampunk-inspired RPG. We don’t know much about the world, but your interactions and choices will make a huge difference in the narrative. There seems to be a time travel mechanic as well.
“By traveling back to key moments, your interactions and choices will have a butterfly effect on the deep, narrative-driven world and characters of Avalon, causing them to change and react in unprecedented ways,” explains the Steam listing for the game.
Fable (TBA)
Fable is the next entry in the beloved fantasy RPG series. This time, it will be developed by Forza Horizon studio Playground Games. If you’ve watched the most recent trailer, you can tell it will retain its charming British humor.
The Xbox Games Showcase trailer is impressive as it shows the grand scale of your character against Richard Ayaode’s giant. Hopefully, we’ll see more in-game footage soon. It’s one of my personal most anticipated 2024 Xbox exclusives (hopefully it makes it next year).
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 (TBA)
I won’t touch this game with a ten-foot pole (the first game genuinely triggered my anxiety), but Hellblade 2 is one of the most anticipated games in Xbox’s lineup. As Senua, you’ll be scouring Viking Island, facing strenuous battles against the darkness. The game looks gorgeous so far with stellar acting all around.
Xbox says it will be “a crafted experience told through cinematic immersion, beautifully realized visuals and encapsulating sound” on the Steam page.
South of Midnight (TBA)
Compulsion Games, after their creepy yet somewhat flawed We Happy Few, is returning with South of Midnight. Set in the American South, you’ll play as Hazel, who is tasked to take down supernatural creatures around the world. It will be a third-person action adventure.
“Hazel is set off on a quest to repair a broken world, most particularly by taking on mythical creatures – all based on real-life folklore from the region the game takes its inspirations from,” said Xbox Wire. “And it’s going to get weird.”
A story set in modern times with magic involved is a great recipe for a game for me.
