Todd Howard calls Starfield community ‘gaming’s smartest fans’

"Starfield has been a labor of love for us."

It’s officially Starfield Day. At least for those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition (or those were lucky enough to get review copies). In the closing days before the game was released, Bethesda’s own Todd Howard took to the community to express his gratitude at the loyalty and enthusiasm fans were showing.

In a recent post on Reddit, Mr. Skyrim himself wanted to personally thank the Starfield sub for all their support. His heartfelt message to the fans shows how grateful Howard is to witness such a dedicated following grow over the years.

From all of us here, THANK YOU

He goes on to say that the Starfield – and Bethesda in general – fanbase contains “gaming’s smartest fans,” adding that the long-awaited sci-fi RPG has been a “labor of love” for him and his team.

Maybe we CAN explore space together

Read Howard’s message however you want. Some may chortle a bit about how he refers to gamers – especially Reddit users – as being smart. We’ve long known about the divides among the community and some of the questionable opinions of a vocal minority. But Starfield‘s director evidently sees through that. We obviously don’t know how sincere Howard was when he wrote that message, but given his passion for the new Bethesda game (especially considering he pitched it in 2013), the man’s allowed to gush a little.

The reviews for Starfield are coming in all the time. But for those of us who have to wait until September 6 to play it, we might want to avoid social media for the next few days.
