For most of its length, Pikmin 4 is a peaceful game that has you collecting treasure in beautiful environments. However, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security, because other moments are anxiety-inducing experiences filled with frantic running and squealing Pikmin. One of the most troublesome enemies you will encounter is the Non-Existent Entity. At first, it seems invincible, though with the right Pikmin, you can take it down and continue perfecting Dandori in peace.

Where is the Non-Existent Entity found in Pikmin 4
The Non-Existent Entity will start bothering you when you enter the Engulfed Castle. This cave is located in Serene Shores, at the spot indicated on the map above. Most of the enemies up until this point have been rather silly and easy to take down. The Non-Existent Entity will be one of the first creatures to make you sweat.
The first time you cross paths with the Non-Existent Entity, you’ll notice that it is impervious to your attacks, so don’t bother throwing Pikmin at it or sending Oatchi to maul it.
You’ll also notice that the Non-Existent Entity generally moves around without much regard for you or your Pikmin. It travels along its own path, using its rollers to instantly crush anything standing in its way.
How to defeat the Non-Existent Entity in Pikmin 4
When the Non-Existent Entity first appears in the Engulfed Castle, there is no way to defeat it. No bombs, Pikmin, or dog bites will harm it. Therefore, when it shows up, keep your Pikmin close to you, and avoid standing in your opponent’s path. Having the entity around makes it much more challenging to collect treasures and enemy corpses, so don’t be too proud to simply call it quits and head to the next sublevel.
Once you reach the final level of the cave, Sublevel 5, you’ll encounter Purple Pikmin. These critters weigh more than the others, and each individual is as strong as ten. The purple critters create gravity waves that make the Non-Existent Entity temporarily vulnerable.
Now that you have the Purple Pikmin, you can take on the Non-Existent Entity. First, throw Purple Pikmin at it, and when it is vulnerable, you can send the rest of your Pikmin to attack it.
When the enemy is no longer vulnerable, it’ll start rolling. Call back your team to save them from getting crushed. Repeat the cycle of throwing Purple Pikmin, making the Non-Existent Entity vulnerable, and then assaulting it with your whole team. Once you defeat your foe, you’ll learn that it is actually a Waterwraith.
The Non-Existent Entity is one of the more challenging foes in Pikmin 4. Fortunately, if you have a few Purple Pikmin on your side, you can challenge the enemy and emerge victorious. Find the purple Onion, and you’ll be able to create more purple critters to help you out.
