Gotta go live
Sonic the Hedgehog‘s official Twitter page has just announced that Sonic’s YouTube and Twitch channels will host a new Sonic Central on June 23. The live showcase is akin to something like a Nintendo Direct, and will tease some of Sonic’s “upcoming projects, partnerships, and events” that will take place this year.

While still don’t know any details about a possible new main entry in the Sonic series, we know about some of the treats Sega has in store for fans. Nintendo has just announced that Sonic will return in Sonic Superstars this Fall.
Superstars is an entirely new game made in the vein of the classic 2D Sonic games. It’ll feature modern graphics and we don’t just get to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. We’ll get to play them all at the same time in local four-player co-op mode.
If you think Fall is too far away, then fret not. Sonic will also return in Sonic Origins Plus this very Friday.
Origins Plus is a collection that features four classic Sonic games in HD, as well as 12 Sonic games from the Game Gear. It also boasts some new features like new challenges, modes, a playable Amy, and even her super form.

But as with all things Sonic, the backlash is never too far away. Twitter users are already claiming that the game has been leaked, and fans aren’t happy with the quality of the sound of the Game Gear remasters. Twitter user Kirisame states that he has analyzed the audio files and complains that the stereo changes actually make the game sound worse.

To learn more about it all and more, stay tuned to Sonic’s Twitch or Youtube channels this Friday, June 23, at 8 am PST or 11 am EST.
