Best Persona 5 Royal mods for PC

Give the Phantom Thieves a sleek makeover

As one of the most requested ports of recent history, Persona 5 Royal finally arrived on PC in 2022. Still, even a game as critically acclaimed as this isn’t necessarily perfect, so there is room for improvements. Fortunately, its arrival on PC has opened the door to mods, which the fan community has eagerly delivered.

Below, you’ll find five of the best Persona 5 Royal mods for the PC version. These mods range from improving the overall gameplay experience to simply changing up some of the characters and textures. The best part is that all of these mods are totally free to download, and they are accessible through Nexus Mods where they have been verified to be safe for you to use.

New Game+ Save

The first mod you need to check out is the New Game+ save mod. The mod provides players with a save file that includes the game’s story already fully completed once, plus all items and Personas automatically unlocked.

New Game+ is a massive part of Persona 5 Royal, as several secrets are locked behind a second playthrough. For instance, the toughest boss fight in the game won’t appear on a fresh save file. In addition, some of the best Personas in the game, like Satanael, require a second playthrough to make use of them.

If you’re anything like me, while you might love this game, the thought of putting another 100+ hours into the game just to do it all over again for these extra features is a bit bonkers. Especially if you already beat the game on another platform.

PS4 icons mod

Game Pass easily proves its value by letting you play masterpieces like this game for just its subscription price. The problem for some PC players is that the Game Pass version only includes the Xbox-style button prompts.

If you use a DualShock 4 or DualSense controller, you might prefer the PlayStation button prompts. This mod does just that, changing all of the button prompts in the game back to the original PlayStation versions.

Kingdom Hearts costume mod

The Vicennial Phantom Thieves texture mod is one of the most unique ways to customize how the game looks for you. It takes the entire cast of the Phantom Thieves, including the new member Kasumi Yoshizawa who joins exclusively in Persona 5 Royal, and gives them a new costume style.

This is mainly considered a texture swap that offers more of a Kingdom Hearts vibe to the game. There is a huge emphasis on a slick gold and black aesthetic that will make your party look fly. If you want a safe, light mod that doesn’t do anything too crazy, this is one to check out.

Another Eden music replacement

Another Eden is an underrated JRPG for mobile devices and PC from some of the talent behind Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross. It is a terrific way of handling a mobile-style RPG that feels like an SNES or PSX-era classic, but that’s a story for another time.

This particular mod takes the wonderful music from Another Eden and replaces some of the themes in this game with it. If you somehow feel tired of hearing “Take Over” a million times, this will make everything feel fresh again.

Windows 7 compatibility mod

The final mod that I want to recommend is one for the players with older computers out there. Persona 5 Royal is by no means a tremendously difficult game to run on PC. After all, it is the enhanced version of what used to be a PS3 title. However, you must have Windows 10 or newer to run it. If you happen to have Windows 7, 8, or even some older Windows 10 versions, you can’t boot this game.

This Windows 7 compatibility mod bypasses the system check for the game to allow older Windows PCs to run it. Fair warning, this is experimental. Even if you are able to boot up the game this way, there is no guarantee your computer will be capable of running it.
