Jochi-iu Shrine location and solution for Tears of the Kingdom (Totk)

Recommended Videos

Jochi-iu Shrine is an excellent shrine in Tears of the Kingdom that takes the world of Hyrule and combines it with something that nearly everyone knows. In this case, that’s Jenga. This party game-inspired shrine will be instantly recognizable to many people, although its Hylian twists can still trip players up. We’ll take a look at how to complete Jochi-iu Shrine below, but first, let’s cover how to find it in the sprawling world of Hyrule.

How to find Jochi-iu Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

Jochi-iu Shrine is located in the Deep Akkala region of Hyrule, which is separate from the Akkala Highlands to the south. The shrine can be found close to the most northeasterly part of the map, close to the Akkala Sea. Look for the shrine southeast of Bloodleaf Lake and to the west of North Akkala Beach. The quickest way for most players to reach the shrine is via the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. To reach the shrine, use the tower and glide northeast towards the sea. Alternatively, if you’ve unlocked them, shrines like Sinatanika and Gemimik are slightly closer than the tower. Check the screenshot above for the exact location of Jochi-iu Shrine on the map.

How to complete Jochi-iu Shrine

As mentioned above, Jochi-iu Shrine is essentially Jenga. It follows pretty much the same rules, and you’ll need to get all the parts you need without breaking the golden rule of Jenga, don’t knock over the tower. If the tower falls over, every piece will disappear and respawn as a fresh tower. That means even if you get the piece you need, it won’t count unless everything stays upright. To make things more difficult, Link also can’t glide over to the tower to grab pieces at a closer range. If you fly over with Link, you guessed it, the tower falls down and resets.

To complete the puzzle, you’re going to need at least two pieces of the tower as well as the ball from the top. To begin, take the leftmost piece from the very bottom level of the tower using Ultrahand. You are going to use this piece later, but for now, attach it to the side of the tower, just below the level with the chest, as pictured above. Slowly remove the piece of the tower that has the chest on top. To locate the chest, look at the tower from the righthand side, or check the screenshot above. If you remove the piece carefully enough, the chest should drop to the bottom of the platform. If successful, place the piece on one side of Link. If unsuccessful, the chest will fall over the edge and into the abyss. If this happens, knock over the tower to reset. The chest contains a useful Large Zonaite.

After getting the chest, take the two pieces you removed from the tower and place them on the platform below the doorway. The aim here is to get the electricity from one side to the other to power up the moving platform. To do this, connect the two metal pieces lengthways and place one end on each of the electrical conductor pads. The green platform will begin to move.

Hop onto the platform and ride it out to the edge of the tower. When you’re close enough, you will be able to use Ultrahand to grab the ball and take it back. There are only a few seconds where the ball can be retrieved with Ultrahand, so it may take more than one attempt. When you’re back to the beginning, you can put the ball into the hole to open the exit to the shrine.

However, don’t go leaving just yet. Take one of the pieces that you used to conduct the electricity, detach it and take it to the opposite side of the room as the exit. There’s a chest on the platform above that Link can’t reach on his own. Place the piece against the wall to form a ramp that Link can walk up. Check the screenshot above for the exact placement. In the chest is an impressive Zonaite Bow that will be useful for a majority of players.

That’s it! Jochi-iu Shrine is complete!
