Let the horns ring out

The Great Fairies are a huge help for Link’s quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Four of them lay dormant around Hyrule, and completing adventures like the Serenade to Mija will bring them out of hiding, ready to empower Link’s armor to its full potential.

Serenade to Mija is one of several side adventures you can undertake in Tears of the Kingdom to help the Stable Trotters awaken the Great Fairies from their buds. But in each one, you’ll need to help the Trotters out. You will, essentially, need to get the band back together.

Where to start Serenade to Mija in TOTK

First, you’ll need to finish Serenade to a Great Fairy. This is a side adventure that’s part of the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line, Potential Princess Sightings.

Serenading the first Great Fairy will introduce Link to the Stable Trotters, a roving band of bards that has a particular knack for serenading Great Fairies. And after finishing their introductory side adventure at the Woodland Stable through the Lucky Clover adventures, they’ll pop up at three other stables, waiting for Link to arrive and assist with the other Fairies.

If and when you’ve done that, head to the Snowfield Stable, where the band is warming up. They want to serenade the nearby Mija out of hiding, but need their horn player Eustus to do so.

From here, you’ll need to complete the side adventure The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape. You may have stumbled across this naturally, or be pointed to it by this quest. Either way, you’ll need to dig Eustus out of his hole to get the band back together.

Follow our guide on it here for more information. Once Eustus is free of his pit, he’ll head back to Snowfield to reunite with the Stable Trotters, and you can join him for the last leg of this quest.

How to get the band to the Great Fairy Mija

With Eustus back, now the Stable Trotters just need a ride to the gig. It’s not exactly an easy road, though. Much like you brought them to the Great Fairy in Serenade to a Great Fairy, you’ll need a horse to drag the cart again.

This time, though, the cart’s missing a roof. And the band will need a roof to deal with the frigid snow falling down.

Use the nearby Hudson Construction supplies to attach a roof, and you’re all set. This is a thankfully easy build, but the ride has only just begun.

Between the stable and the Great Fairy, there’s also some roving Bokoblins on horseback. You’ll need to take them out on your way there, using Link’s handy-dandy archery skills.

I recommend making use of Keese eyeballs, which make it easy to pick off moving targets like the Bokoblins. Keep them at bay and progress up the hill to the northeast, staying far, far away from the nearby Gleeok, and you’ll soon be at the Great Fairy.

The band will perform and serenade Mija into emerging, netting another Great Fairy and some rupees to boot. That’s one more of the Great Fairies available, but you’ll need all four for the best armor upgrades in the game.
