Should we bring out our controllers?

Honkai Star Rail controller support makes the game more appealing for those who detest touch controls and the mouse and keyboard. Both can be quite daunting, especially the mouse and keyboard, which has all manner of confusing keys to understand. Sorry, I’m not a PC player and I didn’t grow up with the control method! Here’s everything you need to know about Honkai: Star Rail controller support on PC and mobile devices.

Is Honkai Star Rail controller supported?

It’s time to get hyped because Honkai Star Rail controller support is indeed a thing. On PC, you can plug in almost every Xbox controller and it will work with the game. I even used an Xbox 360 gamepad and it worked just fine: the UI changes according to the controller you use, too! For example, you’ll see the A button for an Xbox controller and the cross button for PlayStation gamepads. On PC, it works with both a wired and wireless connection via Bluetooth.

On iOS and Android, it isn’t the same case. Neither a USB wired nor Bluetooth connection works with Honkai Star Rail on mobile. If you want to take Honkai Star Rail to an airport, train, or any other place outside of the house/apartment with a controller, you’ll need to use a laptop instead. It’s a shame, but thankfully, the mobile controls work well enough.

Is Honkai Star Rail coming to consoles?

Honkai Star Rail will eventually be released on PS5 and PS4 soon. There’s currently no release date attached. It’s only available on PC and mobile devices currently, but Honkai Star Rail does support cross-save on those platforms. Whenever the PlayStation version of Honkai Star Rail releases, hopefully the account system will allow cross-saves as well, as that feature only came to Genshin Impact in the 2.0 update.

As of the time of writing, there are no plans for an Xbox or Nintendo Switch version of Honkai Star Rail. In fact, we’re still waiting for a Switch version of Genshin Impact, which was announced years ago.
