A spell Harry loves to use
If you’ve played any of the Harry Potter games, watched the movies, or read the books, you should know that the Expelliarmus disarming charm is extremely useful in the Wizarding World. It is a constant favorite of the lightning-scarred wizard himself, in fact.
Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy allows you to remove wands and other weapons like an axe off your enemy’s hands. This will them leave mostly defenseless. It also deals more damage than the quick basic attack, even on mythical creatures and goblins. Here’s how to learn Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy.
Where to find Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy
Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy is one of the first spells you’ll learn. After taking your introductory potions and herbology classes, Professor Hecat will teach you the Expelliarmus spell in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. However, you’ll want to check the Quests menu to see exactly what assignments she needs you to do before beginning the lesson.
Once you’ve finished her assignments, follow the patterns on-screen and press the corresponding buttons like other spells you learn in the game. After that, Professor Hecat doesn’t place any challenges on you. She instead says you should practice with the dummy at the front of the classroom.
Once you begin to use Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll learn it’s more weighty than the standard spell you use in battle. As previously mentioned, it causes extra damage but it can give you a strategic advantage as you can disarm your opponents.
How to use Expelliarmus in battle
Before you head into battle, you’ll want to equip Expelliarmus with your arsenal of spells. Press right on the D-Pad for your controller, and then select Expelliarmus to take over one of the four spots by pressing the corresponding button.
Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy is a great tactical spell. It can push unwanted enemies back, keeping them away for a close-quarters attack. In addition, it will take your foes’ wands away from them, giving you a perfect opportunity to strike. There will be other offensive spells to learn as well in the future. However, there are also essential non-combat incantations you should pay attention to, like Alohamora, which unlocks doors, and Accio, which pulls objects to you.
