How to customize your character in Hogwarts Legacy

It’s pretty easy, and you’ll have ample options in the first few hours

Recommended Videos

Like most modern AAA games, Hogwarts Legacy has character customization options beyond the initial creation process: including outfits (which have gear ratings). Thankfully. there’s also a transmogrification (transmog)/glamour system at launch, so you don’t have to sport some weird looking glasses for a minor stat boost. Here’s how to customize your character and acquire more clothing options.

Head to the Gear menu

To change up what your character is wearing (as well as your mounts and wand handle), pause the game and go to the “gear” menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Here, you can change up your equipment, as well as utilize that transmog system I was talking about.

Does Hogwarts Legacy have transmog?

Yes! Though it’s semi-obscured from view.

To use transmog in Hogwarts Legacy, press the “change appearance” prompt on the equipment screen, which is mapped to the Square button by default on PlayStation, and X on Xbox. Here, you’ll be able to change the look of that item to something that matches a piece of equipment in your collection.

In other words, you don’t need to adorn the goofy gold dragon-eyed spectacles in cutscenes (“no equipment” is an option too if you want to go shades-less): but you can still benefit from the stat boosts.

You can get more outfits from quests and Hogsmeade

Some quests, or even sidequests, will provide bonus outfits as a reward for completing them.

To add to your growing list of transmog options, you’ll want to visit the Gladrags Wizardwear shop in Hogsmeade: the town just outside of Hogwarts proper. You’ll visit as part of a main story mission several hours into the game, then you’ll have permanent access from that point on.
