More monsters and mazes coming October 26
Square Enix has released a slew of exciting new details pertaining to the upcoming DLC for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin — The “Wanderer of The Rift” expansion will bring with it new dungeons to explore, new tools to master, and, the lord of chaos themselves, the fearsome warrior Gilgamesh.
Arriving October 26, The Wanderer of The Rift DLC will see the gargantuan and proud fighter introduce themselves to our team of heroes, bedecked in glorious kabuki battle armor and most certainly up for the rumble. Gilgamesh is equipped with a variety of devastating weaponry — including spears, swords, and axes — and, as one who has harnessed space and time, will make for an unpredictable and challenging opponent. As to their intentions in the world of Chaos, this remains to be seen.
As a rift walker, Gilgamesh’s arrival has caused a tear in reality, leaving behind an opening to the all-new Rift Labyrinth. Through this portal, Jack and his party can access a variety of procedurally generated dungeons, plowing through dice roll packs of enemies in order to gather loot, resources, and oodles of that sweet, sweet XP. Be sure to watch out for the new “Chaotic Monsters” — regular enemies imbued with chaos power who will offer greater rewards upon defeat. These will include a range of new Relic gear that is blessed with summoning powers.
In addition to the new story chapter and the Rift Labyrinth, the new DLC includes several additional features such as the “Monster Bells”, which will offer players a direct line to several grotesque allies in the heat of battle, and a new job, “Blue Mage”, which will allow its bearer to learn enemy attacks for use in later battles. Copycat. For the more hardened Final Fantasy adventurers among you, the all new “Gilgamesh” difficulty setting will offer an additional challenge.
