Capcom is finally bringing some DLC to Resident Evil Village, and it’s pretty hefty. The Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion packs in more Mercs content, a story for Rose, and a whole lot more on Oct. 28, 2022.

The big ticket item here is Shadows of Rose, a new story set in the Village universe following Rosemary Winters. It seems to get pretty mind-twisting and creepy, but for those who dig the expanded world of Resident Evil, that’s a pretty interesting set-up.

Shadows of Rose is set 16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village, and the story sees Rose entering the consciousness of the Megamycete. Here, she has to deal with her pasts and nightmares. And apparently also a very evil, Persona palace version of the Duke.

If story isn’t what you’re looking for, there’s also the addition of a third-person mode, making it feel a bit more like a classic Resident Evil game. This new vantage point offers a new outlook, and possibly a little more distance between you and all the hand-based injuries Ethan suffers in Village.

Towering mercenaries, oh my

The Mercenaries game mode is also adding three additional characters: Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and the towering Lady Dimitrescu. Yes, Lady D fans rejoice. She’s finally playable. Plus, there are some new stages to add some new challenges.

The Resident Evil Village expansion comes either separate, for those who just need to pick up the additional content, or the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which packs it all together.

The Winters’ Expansion and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition are out on Oct. 28, 2022.
