Today Facebook held an event for the Quest 2 (yeah I’m sidestepping that new nomenclature!): the Quest Showcase. In this roughly 45-minute affair, the company showed off some of the heavier-hitting games coming to the platform, and announced a few more.

Here’s a list of the games that were announced or shown off on stream:

  • Beat Saber – Electronic Mixtape
  • Cities: VR
  • RuinsMagus
  • Moss: Book II
  • Espire 2
  • Red Matter 2
  • Among Us VR
  • NFL Pro Era
  • Bonelab
  • The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2
  • Ghostbusters VR
  • Resident Evil 4: The Mercenaries VR

I bolded the last two, as they’re arguably the bigger announcements coming out of the stream. The Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries portion in particular is fascinating, as it shows off new exclusive challenges that are being added to Mercenaries through the VR version (of which there are 20), like a dual-pistol Wild West mode. You’ll also be able to unlock content for the main game (modes, skins, and weapons were confirmed), and it will support online leaderboards.

Big head mode, “classic horror mode” (black and white), and “fast forward mode” (hyper speed) are the gametypes that made it in . It’ll also be a free update, and it launches today. If you just want to see that portion of the event, it starts at roughly 37 minutes in.

While Ghostbusters VR was the “one more thing” of the night for the Quest Showcase (which features four player co-op in a “new San Francisco Ghostbusters HQ”), the Resident Evil 4 gameplay easily took it for me. The VR port has been highly successful and acclaimed from critics and fans alike: and a showcase of the types of games VR publishers should have been doing since the start.
