Oh yes, it’s Ladies’ Fight
This week sees the coming of two new DLC characters to the roster of cult anime fighter Melty Blood: Type Lumina, as Dead Apostle Noel and Aoko Aozaki will be stepping into the ring come Thursday, January 13. Developer Project Lumina has dropped new trailers showcasing the abilities of both scrappers.
Our first throwdown sees the cheerful but incredulously dangerous Dead Apostle Noel locking horns with one of the Tsukihime franchise’s main protagonists: the holy Ciel. Despite her cute appearance, Noel is a cunning and ruthless opponent, ensnaring her opponent in traps — both on the ground and in the air — before peppering them with magical javelins from all directions.
Despite her tiny form, Noel’s javelins offer her deceptive reach, while her trap setups allow her to control the pace and flow of the battle. Her petite size offers her incredible agility, with swift movement and command of the air. This is one butterfly you are absolutely not pinning down with ease.
The second video sees our favorite “Yeah, I just threw this on” sorceress Aoko Aozaki in a fast-paced showdown with Tsukihime poster boy Shiki Tohno. Even from this single fight, we can see Aoko is packed with options, armed with space-controlling projectiles, a litany of rushdown combos, and even an air throw.
Perhaps the most interesting element of Aoko’s battle, however, is her clear ability to mix up her opponent, laying down a barrage of high, low, and overhead attacks at incredible speed. Aoko appears to be a very difficult character to defend against, while her delayed projectiles make her equally difficult to approach. She’s looking mighty fine here.
Both Dead Apostle Noel and Aoko Aozaki will be available to download from January 13. While Dead Apostle Noel will be released as a paid DLC character, all players can pick up Aoko Aozaki absolutely free of charge. A fine way to get Melty Blood: Type Lumina off to a grand start in 2022.
Melty Blood: Type Lumina is available now on PS4, Steam, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
