Save $10 on PC games that are $14.99 and up, or just hop in for 15 days of free games
There are a few reasons to look at the Epic Games Store today, whether you’re looking to spend a bit to save a lot, or you’re just here for the free games, as per usual. The 2021 Holiday Sale has begun, which means $10 coupons are back, and the first daily free game giveaway is here as well. You can claim Shenmue III until 8:00 a.m. Pacific on December 17.
So, before we get into the coupons — which come with a pretty convenient twist — let’s talk freebies. The Epic Games Store page to visit every day for the rest of the year is this Free Games section. It’ll show you the current offer (again, Shenmue III is up first, which may not be your scene at all), as well as a countdown for the next mystery title.
For 2021, there will be 15 days of free games. And for those of us who are aiming to not be glued to our PCs over the holiday break, Epic shared a reminder that you can sign into the store with a mobile browser, claim whatever speaks to you, and then be on your way.
About that coupon functionality: now that the Epic Games Store has a shopping cart — no joke, it’s a new feature — you can use a $10 coupon on everything in your cart, all at once. As a refresher, every time you buy a game at $14.99 or above, you’ll get a $10 off coupon. They keep coming. And with the new setup for the 2021 Holiday Sale, “no matter how many games are in your shopping cart, at least up to the 50 item transaction cap, any that cost over $14.99 after a sale discount has been applied will have an additional $10 off coupon applied.” This promo will last until January 6, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific.
Let me throw out some game ideas that fall into the coupon-ready sweet spot, just to give you an idea of what’s out there. There’s F.I.S.T. for $25.49, Darkest Dungeon II for $26.99, Inscryption for $15.99, Alan Wake Remastered for $23.99, The Eternal Cylinder for $22.49, Bonfire Peaks for $16.99, Kena: Bridge of Spirits for $29.99, TOEM for $15.99, Axiom Verge 2 for $17.99, Road 96 for $15.96, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin for $23.99, The Forgotten City for $18.74, and Death’s Door for $14.99. Some of these got game-of-the-year nods!
I know that plenty of you aren’t into extreme couponing, but the ability to knock ten bucks off those (already decent!) Holiday Sale prices is ridiculous. Too many games, I tell ya.
