[Update: Lab Zero Games has announced that the Xbox One port of Skullgirls 2nd Encore has been “postponed indefinitely”, citing “unforeseen development and production challenges”. The studio apologised for any disappointment caused.]

Lab Zero’s excellent tag-fighting title Skullgirls 2nd Encore, will finally arrive on Nintendo Switch next week, with the wild and beautiful fist-fest launching October 22.

Originally launching way back in 2012, Skullgirls is a fantastic and deep fighting game, featuring a unique and utterly magnetic roster of loopy characters. From retro-cartoon cyborg Peacock and circus performing mobster Cerebella, to resurrected opera singer Squigly and ninja nurse Valentine, the Skullgirls‘ universe is alive with expressive characters, detailed locations and deep (and surprisingly dark) lore, all dressed up in Lab Zero’s high-quality art and animation.

This is to say nothing of Skullgirls excellent, Marvel vs Capcom-inspired action. The game also features character story and training modes, a palette of fun colour schemes and one of the best soundtracks in fighting game history, composed by Castlevania veteran Michiru Yamane. 2nd Encore is the latest and final version of the game, and includes all previously released DLC.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore launches on Nintendo Switch October 22. It is already available on PS4, PS Vita, and PC. An Xbox One edition is still waiting for a confirmed release date.
