AkSys Games has announced a release date for Ghost Parade, a spooky-cute metroidvania adventure from Indonesian studio Lentara. Fittingly, this tale of a haunted woodland will arrive on PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch on October 31, Halloween.

Ghost Parade is the tale of a young girl, Suri, who finds herself lost in the woods while taking an ill-advised shortcut. While trying to find her way back home, Suri meets and befriends a menagerie of mystical characters, whose woodland home is threatened by deforestation plans. Teaming with her new groovy ghoulies, Suri must find her way out of the woods in order to put a stop her fellow humans’ plans to destroy the ghost’s habitat.

In development since 2015, Ghost Parade draws upon Indonesian folklore for its roster of spectres, imps and other mythical beings, with some 70 characters in all to be discovered and befriended. Lentara hopes that players will also take note of the game’s pro-ecological message, while connecting with its charming art and character design. But the studio warns that despite its cute appearance, Ghost Parade is no walk in the park (or stroll through the woods), with gameplay designed to challenge even the most ardent platform game fans.
