The streets is where I’s born
Mayhem will soon be reignited. Saints Row: The Third — the Saints Row that took the series from beloved GTA knockoff to absurdist comedic anarchy — is being remastered for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Deep Silver’s return to Steelport is (like all remasters) predicated on making everything look new and shiny. Developer Sperasoft is in charge of remastering Saints Row: The Third, and that work includes: implementing a new lighting engine, remodeling and redesigning all the weapons and vehicles, and creating more than 4,000 new current-gen assets.
Sperasoft is a name that might not ring any bells, but it’s a studio that has been around the block. It typically specializes in porting and serving as a support developer on triple-A games. According to the developer’s portfolio, it has worked on titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, The Outer Worlds, and Elder Scrolls Online. Sperasoft has experience working with Volition’s games, as it helped with 2017’s Agents of Mayhem.
This Saints Row: The Third remaster is the “Full Package” edition, the one that includes a truly stupid amount of DLC. Back in 2011, Volition sold the game’s season pass by pledging 40 weeks of DLC. Most of it was inconsequential cosmetics, but it eventually produced three campaign add-ons.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered is set to launch on May 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $40. You may notice one major platform is missing, but Switch already got its Saints Row: The Third port last year — albeit without this version’s fresh coat of paint.
