As reported by the movie moguls over at Variety, production company Constantin Films has secured the rights to produce a movie based on the high-explosive escapades of Square Enix’ Just Cause franchise.

Expected to commence shooting next year, the Just Cause film will be written by Derek Kolstad, who is responsible for the ballistic John Wick franchise, and produced by Robert Kulzer, who has overseen the Resident Evil Cinematic Universe. No doubt this pairing can bring the over-the-top mayhem and ridiculous action set-pieces of the Just Cause games to the big screen.

For those of you more interested in Rico’s digital exploits, Just Cause 4 recently revealed its Los Demonios DLC, bringing a weird neon aesthetic and gooey sci-fi horror tropes to the open-world shooter. That in itself sounds like it’d make for a fun flick, to be honest.

The Just Cause movie enters production in 2020 for an undisclosed future release.
