I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time

I’ve been following the development cycle for No Truce with the Furies Disco Elysium for a few years now. I have a deep love for European-developed AA games. They are seemingly always oozing with original art styles, worlds, and mechanics that are hard to find elsewhere in gaming. While success is never guaranteed for these games, the experience is always unique and memorable.

I was eagerly looking forward to the chance to dive into this noirish cRPG that was touting itself up to be a story-driven game where you have massive freedom of choice in a world with grey characters. I say that I was excited; they announced Disco Elysium would release right in the middle of October, which was shaping up to be the busiest time of year for me, and now that I’m in the thick of it, it is! So thanks ZA/UM, but also no thanks!

While I would have loved to have reviewed this game for y’all, finding the time to sit down with a game that is being advertised to have around a 25 to 40-hour campaign is just a bit too much for me to tear off at the moment. But I didn’t want to let the release go by without bringing some attention to the game. It helps that Kevin McClusky wrote a massive preview from PAX, so make sure to give that a read if you’re even remotely interested in Disco Elysium. As for me? Well, I’ll be digging into this the first chance I get once life settles down in a month or so.

Disco Elysium is available for PC on Steam and GOG.
