I don’t have a calendar, but if I did, I’d mark down December 9

Did Ashen slip by you last year? Sometimes, that’s how it goes. We’ll get another crack when the co-op-heavy action-RPG makes its way onto more platforms. Following an Xbox One and Epic Games Store release, Ashen will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam, and GOG starting December 9.

Even if you’ve already been there and done that, make sure to stick around for the end of the trailer.

I always loved the premise of partnering up with AI- and human-controlled characters, and Ashen‘s somber art direction still stands out today. That said, I have to pace myself with these sorts of games. I need to spread them out or risk leaving them half-completed in backlog purgatory. It’s a cruel fate.

Chris took the Xbox One version through its paces and landed on a 7.5 out of 10. “It doesn’t have quite the same highs as a lot of its predecessors, but it maintains its tranquil equilibrium throughout,” he said. “If you have an adventurous spirit and the patience and time to put into it, Ashen will pay dividends.”

I’ll get around to this one day. Once the Switch version hits the eShop, it’ll only be a matter of time.
