I’ve heard my fair share of stupid filth from the mouths of gamers on Xbox Live, but one Frostburg State University student just topped ’em all by getting charged with two misdemeanor counts of disrupting a school operation because of a threat he made on the Internet.
While playing Call of Duty 4 online, Allieu Shaw (thanks for the link, Lawl) talked about “shooting up the school” and also managed to let out “how he was going to do it.” Big mistake.
A concerned CoD4 player from Oregon reported Shaw’s threat to the Frostburg Police Department which led to Microsoft releasing his IP address and his eventual arrest.
Shaw later admitted that the whole thing was just a joke and how he had “no intention of following through with the threats.” While there were no guns or incriminating evidence to be found, it just goes to show you that Xbox Live isn’t as anonymous as you might think.
