After a couple of recent teases, The Behemoth has now confirmed that the lovable co-op beat-’em-up Castle Crashers will appear on Nintendo Switch and PS4 this summer courtesy of PlayEveryWare.

Along with 1080p and 60fps support, you’ll have access to bonus characters like the Pink Knight, Necromancer, and Blacksmith without needing to spring for any DLC like you did back in the day.

The developers also shared a nostalgic photo slide covering the past decade. During that time, Castle Crashers has garnered over 20 million downloads across all platforms. The game is a beast.

It seems probable that The Behemoth will one day decide to make a sequel, but for now, the studio is working on Game 5, which it hopes to share “later this year.” In the far more immediate future, Castle Crashers Remastered will be playable on Switch and PS4 this month at PAX East.

“We might make [Castle Crashers 2] someday, but it would have to hit all the right points at the right times,” said Dan Paladin. “It has to be a product that would end up vastly improved, rather than ‘more of the same,’ which is only something we can accomplish with gaining experience.”
