The Mega Drive mini (known as the Genesis Mini for us Western folks) is still in production and Sega Japan is putting out some feelers for which games fans would like to see on the device. You’d think all the classics would be a given, but it appears as if we’ll have to choose between Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 for the mini console. This is all according to a Twitter poll by the company that recently went live.

The choices come down to “Sonic vs Sonic 2,” “Puyo Puyo vs Puyo Puyo Tsu,” and “Shining Force vs Shining Force II.” In every instance, I’d rather go for the superior sequel, but it is pretty shocking that all of the Sonic games won’t be included on the device. I guess this is similar to how Sonic 3 & Knuckles isn’t present on the recently released Sega Genesis Classics collection due to some copyright issue with the songs.

While the polls are technically for the Japanese version of the device, anyone can vote and this will likely dictate the games that are included on the Western version of the micro-console. If you have any preference, you might as well let Sega know.
