Box art post time! You just want to see which famed Mortal Kombat fighter gets the honor of gracing the cover; I feel obliged to fill this space with some words (words, words, more words) because that’s what I was put on this earth to do.

Let’s compromise. I’ll write some stuff but you don’t necessarily have to read it. You can just scroll down to see the platform-agnostic cover art. Deal?

Earlier today, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon tweeted an image of the official Mortal Kombat 11 box art. It’s Scorpion illuminated against a radiant gold backdrop. It looks pretty cheery for a game about brutalizing and dismembering!

Scorpion is no stranger to the spotlight. He was the sole recipient of Mortal Kombat X‘s cover, and he shared the 2011 Mortal Kombat cover with Sub-Zero. He also squared off opposite Batman on the cover of 2008’s Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

For the past decade, Scorpion has been the golden child of Mortal Kombat, at least as far as box art is concerned. That’s not changing for the series’ eleventh game. It’s only getting highlighted — highlighted in bright, bright yellow.
