So pick your squad carefully
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be a tough act to follow. Sega’s next arcade racer, Team Sonic Racing, attempts to set itself apart with a more Sonic-focused approach and team-centric mechanics. I spoke about some of this stuff in my E3 preview, but today’s footage helps illustrate that point.
Players are encouraged to race cooperatively in several different ways. You can transfer offensive and defensive items to your teammates, trail behind them for a speed boost, and make use of a Team Ultimate after filling a meter mid-race to enter a high-speed state. Those are the basics, anyway.
I’m curious to see what Adventure Mode entails, but my expectations for the game are tempered for sure. Team Sonic Racing is out this winter for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
