No Man’s Sky update improves PS4 stability

More hardware support on PC

If and when you boot up No Man’s Sky today on PC or PlayStation 4, you’ll be greeted with an update that brings the space-adventure title to version 1.04. Today’s patch “improves stability + lots more” for PS4, and “adds support for more hardware + improves frame rate at low spec” for PC.

Detailed notes haven’t been posted yet, but I just warped without a crash (an issue that affected me dozens of times over the past week), so even though I’m taking a break from No Man’s Sky, that’s tentatively reassuring. Patrick, who is playing the PC version, says it now “runs way better” for him.

There has been talk of Hello Games adding freighters, base-building, and nice little clouds among hopefully many more things to come, but for now, the studio is “totally focused on customer support,” according to director Sean Murray. “Then we’ll move onto improving and adding features to the game.”

“Even though less than one per cent of players have raised support issues,” he says, “we’re going to resolve roughly 70% of them this week. It’s pretty crazy for us how many people are playing. And how large a number even 1% of that user base is.” It’s a long road ahead but I’m hopeful.
