Report: Gameloft closing Spanish studio

Skeleton crew let go after layoffs in December

Gameloft is shuttering its studio in Valencia, Spain, Gamasutra reports.

The location closed its doors this week and its 18 employees are now out of work, according to an unnamed source, who suggests this was a skeleton crew left behind after layoffs in December.

The Paris-based company has now closed more than seven of its satellite studios within roughly one year’s time. This is apparently part of an “ambitious cost reduction program” that has greatly benefited Gameloft’s bottom line at the expense of more than 850 developers.
