Leonard Nimoy passed away last week. Though his legacy is broad and varied, most people know him best as Spock, Star Trek‘s most recognizable Vulcan. The same goes for the MMORPG Star Trek Online, as developer Cryptic Studios opened their contribution to the late actor’s remembrance: A permanent in-game memorial.

The memorials, which consist of a statue of Nimoy as Spock and a sculpture of the Vulcan IDIC (a triangular symbol referring to “Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations”) are located on Spock’s home planet of Vulcan, and on the planet of New Romulus, the latter of which recognizes Nimoy’s work in Star Trek: The Next Generation, where an older Spock acted as ambassador to the Romulans.

Cryptic have also opted to add a memorial plaque recognizing other departed figures important to Star Trek. The plaque contains Nimoy’s name, as well as those of Deforest Kelley (who played Dr. McCoy), James Doohan (who played Scotty), Majel Barrett (who played Nurse Chapel), and of course, Star Trek‘s creator, Gene Roddenberry.

Check out some screenshots of the newly-opened memorials (with crowds of players paying their respects), as well as of black flags of mourning hanging in prominent social areas.
