PlayStation Network is place to be for indie developers. At least, Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell seems to think so. Speaking with Joysiq, Bithell echoed the sentiments of Retro City Rampage developer Brian Provinciano, attributing much of his game’s success to the platform.

Thomas Was Alone has “sold really well” since landing on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita back in April. Despite initially launching on PC over a year ago, Bithell asserts more folks have acquired the platformer via PlayStation Plus than any other platform. The title launched at a twenty percent discount for PS Plus subscribers in North America, and was available for free in Europe.

Bithell describes Sony’s premium service as “amazing,” adding “it just massively inflated my audience beyond what a normal esoteric indie platformer would have, which is great.” As a once little-known developer himself, Bithell believes the new-found name recognition to be invaluable to his continued success.
