The Roots’ frontman spits crazy Mario rap on Jimmy Fallon

Black Thought be KILLIN’ it!

You’re probably sick of seeing clips of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on the Dtoid front page, but I can guarantee this one tops ’em all.

Regular watchers of Fallon’s show of course know that the in-house band is none other than the world famous hip hop troupe The Roots. On a recent episode, an audience member suggested that they drop lyrics over the Super Mario Bros. theme song. Black Thought, frontman for The Roots, happily obliged this request.

The backing track isn’t actually the Mario theme — I figure they wish to avoid any sort of legal snafu — but never mind that. From the opening shout out to Shigeru Miyamoto, Black Thought brings it hard. I said, “DAMN!”

(Okay, so he says “Daisy” instead of “Pauline” when talking about Donkey Kong. Chalk it up to creative license.)
