Who doesn’t love physical game maps? Anybody own a cloth map? Those were the days. Now, instead of a cloth map, how about a 3D recreation with several monsters figurines roaming the land? Sound good?
Sometime in March, Square Enix will be selling a Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Map Diorama Collection, a set of 11 segments that can be joined to form a 3D map of Alefgard, the overworld from the original Dragon Quest. The full map is fairly small at only 250 mm x 250 mm (or roughly 10″ x 10″), but just look at the detail in the photos! There are Slimes and Dragons and sh*t!
Unfortunately, you cannot buy a whole set straight up. For 4620 yen (about $59), you get a blind box with only nine segments. To get the full set, you must buy at least two boxes, and there’s still a chance that you won’t get 11 unique pieces. Someone might eventually put a complete set on sale somewhere, but that’s not a sure thing. What a drag.
Know what is a sure thing? This expensive-as-hell warrior costume. Yikes.
