Like Metroid Prime: Hunters was for the DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising is slowly turning into the 3DS’s very own “initially announced as a console selling killer app, but now is more of an afterthought” title. This video does a lot to make the game look fun though, showing off the game’s wide selection of creatively designed weapons and enemies. It’s always nice to see a new Nintendo game where a space jellyfish sucks on a dude’s head. This one even has barrel rolls!
So if the game looks good, why is it that it’s not getting much hype? My guess is that fans are concerned that Kid Icarus: Uprising will do to the series what Other M did for the Metroid games; tell tell us too much about characters who were better left enigmatic, and change the way the series plays to try to “keep up with the times”. I was initially really excited for Kid Icarus: Uprising, but when I heard that the game was doing away with the series’ platforming roots, and was packed lot of jibber jabber between Pit and his pals, the game quietly moved over to the “wait and see” section of my game-brain.
How about you? You want this game or what? De su yo neeeeeeh?
