Microsoft: Halo 4 requires a HDD, think about installing

Recommended Videos

It seems as if asking your customers to install Xbox 360 games “or else” is becoming the norm these days. Rage did it, The Witcher 2 did it, and many more developers have requested fairly large optional installs in order to “fully enjoy the game.”

The next game to engage in this practice is Halo 4. On a new product page located on Xbox.com, Microsoft states, “at a minimum, you’ll need at least an 8GB USB Flash Drive or an Xbox 360 Hard Drive to play Multiplayer mode in Halo 4.” 8 Gigabytes? Great Scott Marty!

The page then goes on to attempt to sell you more HDD products after telling you that you may not be able to enjoy your favorite upcoming game. It’s also speculated that the new “Spartan Ops” program will require further HDD installs — so get that 250 GB HDD ready!

Whether this mysterious “8GB” requirement applies to all multiplayer, or just Spartan Ops (which is more likely) is yet to be seen. Hopefully it’s the latter, as I know quite a few people who don’t have baller Hard Drives.
